Tell me your negative comments about DiveBuddy.com.

I have a few ideas on what I’d like to do differently on DiveBuddy to make the site easier to use. I would love to hear the things that frustrate you also.

For example, I don’t like it when I post a comment and it doesn’t send me back to the page I was looking at automatically (if someone is on your buddy list, it should automatically accept their comment). I also don’t think we need the videos section or live chat, not many people are using it and it’s taking up space.

I don’t want to add any new features yet, I want to remove things that aren’t important. So when you reply, please suggest things that make the site easier to use and navigate.

I’d also like to make it easier to see a member’s upcoming events on their profile page, not just a link to their calendar. I’m thinking I’ll put a listing of their upcoming events right above their profile description.

I pretty much am very happy with DB and I understand what you said about the live chat but I would love to use it and would if it were easier. Just saying that you do not know if anyone is there, mainly. I go to skype, facebook, and now other dive pages to chat. No biggy what happens, still love DB!!!!!!!!!

Adding photos is difficult, would like to be able to add albums instead of just one at a time. Don’t use chat so that doesn’t matter. Only reason don’t use videos is it’s a pain to load on youtube

I don’t really have anything bad to say about the site, and I know you said you weren’t ready for new features yet, but a status feed would be nice. I could see what my buddies are up to at a glance or if they want to dive. I’d love to post "Morrison Springs.anyone?" so my buddies could see and quickly contact me for details. Thanks for the website!

Love the site! Was thinking if you had a side bare or something that automatically listed the members that were on line from the home page after logging in.

DB was my first dive site I joined and I still love it.

As far as video and chat... I don’t use either.

However, would love to see the photo uploader have the ability to upload multiples. Would also like to be able to use my points somewhere (can’t find anything in Texas to redeem).

I’d love to see rss feeds for the forums, I don’t check DB every day so by the time I see an interesting post my comments are too late to be relevant.

Could the Home to Dive Sites toolbar be added to the bottom of the page so you don’t need to page up to continue to another part of DB?

i can’t login with fire fox and other parts of the site do not let you know that your replys are taken so you have to reply again so it doubles up on them

Greg,

The lack of use of the chat may be due to not knowing which buddies are online. A buddies online status indicator which lists your buddies available to chat would increase usefulness of chat. or maybe DB could be changed to integrate one or more of the popular IM systems.

I agree with most others regarding the chat. I never know who’s online and also most people are asleep when I’m on. It takes my pc forever to load, SA internet is a not as great as other places. So by the time I see who’s online, they’re either gone, or it’s not anybody I know. I don’t always feel social enough to strike up new conversations with strangers.

I would like if adding dive sites were a bit easier...I’m not very good at the whole Longitude, latitude thing. I have a book I use to look up my dive sites and it gives L&L etc but it’s South African....(and we always have to be different).
Unfortunately I know to little about such things to even suggest a way to improve it. lol.

I know you don’t want to add things yet, but a "who’s in your area/state/country" would be nice. And I’m sure it would help the divers who travel a lot, instead of posting a forum on "who’s in this area?".

Also agree about the photo’s, a group upload would be nice.

I’m in agreement with you on the the live chat issue, if it is not being used by at least 30 to 40% of the members it should be eliminated in order to use the space for more productive projects and improvements. I agree with the one member about making dive sites easier to add to DB. And being able to add multiple picture at a time rather then one at a time.

I also feel members that have not logged onto DB for over 6 months should be deleted off the website. I have noticed many member have not activily envolved for over 3 years?

ok - to clarify - I like the idea of seeing the members events immediately as part of the profile page instead of having to click to see a calendar.

I can’t say that there is anything that bothers me about the site, whatever you deem necessary to remove let it be done. You’ve done such a wonderful job so far, keep up the good work! I would like to be able to post for everyone to see all the wonderful dive sites we have been to, so we can share them with other divers. I am currently in Bermuda and there is so much diving here, over 350 dive sites all in less than 60ft of water and no divers! Help me get the word out that Bermuda is a wonderful place to dive! I’ll post some pics once I can get them down to size, maybe that will help inspire some people to visit this awesome dive destination.

This is a great site and truely enjoy it. However when I delete comments or messages, I delete them and want them gone. I don’t need or want 2 or 3 years worth of comments or messages just hanging around.

Greg you and I have already spoken once and I know you aren’t looking at adding things yet but the easiest thing I wish you would add is an SSL certificate once you are logged in that was if people post personal data like I did once with my phone number it would not be searchable by search engines. We could post in comments emails, phone numbers our real names or like in the case of me selling gear right now someone could post their address for shipping. It is about 100.00 bucks a year and would protect users more.

Greg,

The only negative thing I have to say about this site is when people post articals in another language, there is no way to translate them. I have always loved divebuddy and you are doing a great job.

I don’t know about all of you... but I’m tired of getting 10+ notices at a time with the same forum response!!

There needs to be an unsubscribe forum button.

Actually, I’ve noticed many duplicates from the last 2 members. I’ll ask Greg how to remove those. And about the unsubscribe option! I guess you know that when you reply to a forum topic, "Subscribe to this forum topic." is automatically chosen at the bottom near the preview and reply now buttons? You can uncheck it to opt out of getting those emails. Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Actually, the I did uncheck it with my last reply but still keep getting postings.

This type of "spamming" by other members makes it a PITA to respond or subscribe to forums!!

I really would appreciate an email from greg telling me how to unsubscribe since unchecking the subscribe box doesn’t seem to work.

Something else to fix, when you click on a link in a message, it should automatically be marked as read, so you don’t have to go back to the inbox to get rid of the notification.

Seeing who is online would be a great new feature! I’ve never tried the chat so I can’t comment about it. Another feature would be a notification if you have new mail. I don’t get online very often so having a notification text message or email sent to my personal email address would be awesome! Keep up the good work Greg!
