 Playa del Carmen dive shop

I am in need of a dive shop in Playa del Carmen that does not restrict your dive time. Last one I was with let you dive for 40 minutes in 20 feet of water. I need some flexibility and do not have a relationship with a dive shop in that area. I normally go to Cozumel but wanted something different and I have to attend a wedding. SO I need to dive while I am there. ANY suggestions?

Love to dive cozumel great diving and affordable.

No help for your trip but maybe you could help me, want to get away in May .

Was thinking Honduras or Belize. I am a photograher and stoped by both on a cruise and enjoyed the lack of current.

I don’t understand. Are you diving from shore or from a boat. If a boat were the other people resort certs (intro to SCUBA) with no experience?That would be the only reasonable justification to keep everyone at 40 min @ 20 feet. What nonsense! I would use the internet to contact dive operations there and express that you are looking for advanced diving opportunities. Personally, I would look for shore diving opportunities. That way you can go as deep as your dive plan calls for and stay as long as it’s safe. I almost always dive solo and could not put up with nonsense restrictions. I guess that’s why I dive mostly shore or with prior agreement that I will be solo.

the dive shop that I have used a couple of times in Playa is Cyan-Ha. They have also a website. Great team of people from start to finish.

I know your pain. My wife and I just returned from the same experience. Twice we were paired with relatively inexperienced divers. On those occasions we ended with between 1500 and 1800psi - way to much air! Next time - we are going to establish up front in the dive plan how they deal with this issue. We too are used to diving our own plan. I think part of the problem might be that in Playa they tend to see divers with much less expereince than in Cozumel. In Playa is really is "group" diving.

Send Steve a note @ Reef Quest Divers.com. They are a very nice and professional shop. I suspect you could arrange a private DM with a custom dive plan. Jessica is one of their DM’s and she was very fun to dive with. We will be back there on the 7th of June if you are around then.
