Diving in Alexander Springs, Florida

I am increadibly intregued about diving in Alexander Springs, Florida. From the pictures, it looks stunningly beautiful, and I’m quite fond of diving in springs. I’m a tad worried about the gators that lurk in the waters though. They don’t seem to be a problem to the swimmers/divers/kayakers, but I’ve heard enough horror stories about gators attacking divers (especially golf ball divers- which might be due to vis), to make me worried.
Has anyone dove this spring or know more about it?

That’s great to know. I saw a few pictures of the gators taken from maybe 10 ft away and so I wondered. I’m not afraid of the beasts, but I am wary and I have a healthy respect for them, which you should. Since there is a current, should I plan for more weights? Maybe 2 more pounds or so?

Yeah, that’s on my to-go list as well. Its a 6 hour drive from me though, which is the only bad thing

deepest is about 25 ft by the opening of the cave, i heard there is one gator there that likes the divers. although i have not seen him personally, do not hold me accountable for you being biten by him. cave is about as big enough for one person. there is a beach there with grills and picnic tables. much rather go to the ocean, but a relaxing dive if you want to get in the water, it is only 6.50 to dive.
