Hi there!

We will be diving in Turks and Caicos the first week of May 5-12th and I was wondering if I need a shortie wet suit. I am about 115lbs and get cold pretty easily but usually dive without a wetsuit. Any advice on where to dive or which dive companies to use would be much appreciated!! Thank you!

I was there in February when the water was 69 and a DM said it would "start warming up in May"

I think you’ll need at least a 3 mil full suit and I myself never wear a shortie, they don’t protect you from much of anything except the BC straps.

I dove there recently and was comfortable with my 5mm wet suit and vested hood. We dove Provo Island 2-dive for 5 days. We went 2-22-09 to 3-1-09. The water temp. averages 70-72 degrees. Very clear diving.

The dive place we used was Dive Provo. We were very happy with them 12 of us went on this trip.

I would first try to find out the water temp there and weather conditions a day or 2 before you go. That could make a difference in your needs. I myself would think about renting a suit out there, its only a few bucks a day ($10-$20) and if you are not diving everyday, dont rent one for that day. Email some shops to find the best deal, you are also on a great site where you can get more info. Have a great trip and take lots of pictures and post them here.

Thank you so much for your feedback! We will be contacting Dive Provo. Do you have any sites to recommend that you think were better than others?
