If you’re going through PADI, you have to do your rescue diver and efr before dm (I’m not sure about the requirements for any of the other certifying agencies), you also have to have a certain amount of logged dives, 60 I think, to get your dm with PADI.

I’m not sure where to do it quickly or less expensively, but if you can get it done before June, it will be less expensive than after, as starting in June 2010, the instructor manual will be required course material, which will make the dive pak cost more.

Good luck.

Practice your swimming and floating, the tows aren’t bad but the 400 yard swim will kick your butt if you aren’t a strong swimmer. If you can float with your hands out of the water your okay, but if you’re like me, ( I float like a ten pound weight ), you may want to practice that. The last two minutes of the float is with your hands out of the water.
