Omega Aquatics Amphibian fins

Ok folks, this was posted on another board, but the kind people at Omega Aquatics have given me a special privilege to try out their new fin. I have to say, it is quite unique and very state-of-the-art!

This fin allows divers to put them on right away and simply walk (forward not backward) during shore entry. It also has been designed to allow for ladder climbs for boat entry/exits. In fact, the fin acts as a shield for your shin as you go up the ladder. No more banging of the shins.

My only concerns with these would be:
1: Hard foot pockets. Definately not for those who prefer fins like twinjets or other maleable fins.
2: Wear and tear. How much open/close can this fin truly endure?
3: Parts. Will parts be available for field repairs? IE foot pockets, fin blades, etc.

In all honesty, I`ll let the video speak for itself! No more need be said until my fins arive and I give them a go round.

More moving parts, more things that can fail. Although we have had a pair in the local shop already, for sale not repair, I will wait and see how these do before I pass judgment. For now I will stick with my force fins. They to have many great features.

i’ve been using these fins for two years now and really like them.
the only trouble i’ve had is on beach entries were they really inhibit forward motion. i’m going to try backing in this year. also, on rocks they can sometimes get wedged but i feel having all hands free during entry outweighs this.

they are awesome for boat entries but you’re better off doffing them before boarding as they can flop around when try to make your way up a ladder.

i was worried about that too, but i’ve really beat on these fins and they’ve held up admirably. i was sad to hear that they scrapped the plan to offer changeable blades.
