I always like to hear your suggestions on how to improve DiveBuddy.com...so let me have it. Reply with your comments/suggestions on any changes or features you’d like to see. I can’t promise anything, but the good suggestions just might get done :)

Thanks!

Hi Greg,

A couple come to mind....

Any way to increase the max file size on the photo uploads to 3 or 4mb (currently 2mp max)? I have to individually crop or res down each file I want to upload. If it were easier I would post a lot more photos more often. I anticipate the obvious answer....space. But worth a try ;-)

Any way we can display a condensed version of the buddy page, maybe with out photos, so that we can more easily scroll through to find a certain buddy? Or perhap add search options to our buddy list so we can find them by first name, or screen name, etc. Going page by page to find one person takes a lot of time, especially since there doesn’t seem to be a ryhme or reason to the order they are listed.

Any way to add a spell check feature to messages or posts?

1) if you decide to delete someone from your buddy list for whatever reason dont have a notification sent to them.

2) add another option when buddy requests are being made, such as an ignore, I hate to deny people, and dont want to offend them either.

3) message spellcheck.

How about repeting the black navigation bar at the bottom of the page too so you don’t need to scrool back up to move on.

Also as already mentoned, move the active threads to the top of the forum.

Hey Greg,

Hope you and the family had a great xmas!

Spell check would be on top of my list.

Second would be that commercial adds/posts/discussions be segregated into it’s own section so people would go check it out IF they were interested. It is SOOOO annoying to see them in the general section that is intended for member exchanges and such. AND, they should support the site with advertising fees. Why should they get free advertising with the pretension of wanting to be our dive buddies? :-[

Hi Greg & Becky

Thanks for your good wishes and may I send good wishes to you both for the coming year

I have not been on your site for a while as I have lost my dive buddy and I am now looking for a new one ( if there is any one out there ) and I have had some bad health of late.

Thanks for the thoughts

Clive

Greg, I have to agree with Flaski. I love the site and the only problem I have had is the instant notification that a buddy has been removed from the list.

I also agree with Flaski.. Its not that I take divers off of my buddy list or deny a buddy request... Its nothing personal against the diver... I just keep divers on my buddy list that stay active with Dive Buddy and I also have a chance to dive with them.. A few have been pretty upset that I have denied or taken them off of my list.. Denied is fairly harsh... I would just like to descretly ignore or remove without notification... No one likes to be rejected..

Great site, don’t panic. I’ve just been too busy lately. Maybe time to take a break and go diving?

Greg,

Another thought is the other side of the denied buddy notification. We need a way to note that a buddy request has been sent, denied or whatever. I don’t want to appear to be a dumb ass sending requests (or multiple requests by mistake) to someone who is not interested.

Also as I noted a spele checker and offline editing ( Cut and Paste ).Also increase time-out time so us keyboard challenged individuals do’t get a longer message dumped.

Thanks!

It’s a good site, I think it has potential to be VERY useful.

One thing that bugs me is that there are several instances of the same dive site in "Dive Sites" section. For instance, I did a search for all sites in USA, state of TN. In the results, Loch Low Minn showed up 3 times (with different site IDs), Martha’s quarry 2 times and another site 3 times also.

I understand that this is probably caused by members adding a dive site without checking if it already exists or problems with alternate spelling, but it’s a major inconvenience. It means that if I want to see what experience someone had with a particular site, I might have to look in 3 different places (same for photos, etc).

I’m also more reluctant to waste time putting in my dive information and reviews for the dive site when I have to go do it in several places (or put it in one and risk it never being seen or of use to anyone).

I think some process for disallowing duplicates (perhaps some vetting process), or a process for removing or merging existing duplicates (by administrator or by community) would make the site better.
