Hi all, just wanted to share what a great dive trip I had to catalina on June 20 2009. It was overcast with 1-2 swells but the diving was great. Saw alot of garabaldi, lobsters, and of course "KELP". I saw one bat ray skirmishing off and the other divers saw multiples. Guess I fell asleep somewhere to miss it. We hit 3 dives sites there, Lions head, Bird Rock, and Griegor, all on the front side of the island more towards two harbors.

I added a couple photos below, and if you wish you can view the rest at my site. The link will take you to the photos.

I was just out there this past weekend. Great vis!! There’s a few giant black sea bass out there right now. Apparently, their numbers are much improved this season. A friend went out the same day and say a 300-400 pounder! Hope I can get back out there ASAP to see if I can locate one of those big guys!

Yeah we went to the dive parkout yesturday (Monday). I got caught up in the damn stringy kelp just as you enter and couldnt get undone and was beibg bashed up against the rocks. by the time I got undone and pulled my self back to the steps I was to exhausted to dive. Wife had to struggle back in just after she got thru it all and chase the camera that came off my wrist. The stringy kelp, I mean had a grip on me that wouldnt let go. It was wrpped around my leg 3 fold. Terrible feeling trying to deal with that, the surge and the rocks. Guess just bad timing that day.
