Maclearie Park/Shark River 8/17

Curious if anyone is interested in doing a night dive this upcoming Saturday (8/17) in Belmar NJ? I was thinking either Maclearie Park or possibly Shark River (not sure what the parking is like down there by the bridge currently, I know summer is crazy...Saturday is looking like a nice day so it still might be kind of crazy). Either way, the high tide looks to be around 8:30 pm, and water temps will probably be in the upper 60’s, possibly low 70’s. Hopefully we can generate some interest as the water temps will start dropping before we know it.

A good maybe, the marine forcast doesn’t look good for boating.

Any site preference? Maclearie looking for seahorses or Shark River looking for tropicals along the rocks? Or do we want to be super daring and play on the Ocean Avenue side and play under the bridge? I am game for whatever the concensus is.

I haven’t done A Street or the Avon side this year, the down side to Avon is the fishing lines but that may be less at night. Maclearie does mean a longer dive.

Lol - Mike I did see this post but it says 8/17 and so I thought it was in August and for some reason was just coming up now...

Should be there on Saturday...

Yes, my mistake...9/17 is the correct date. Living in the past I guess.

This could be a problem, we should arrive early and maybe have a plan B? Point Pleasant RR Bridge would be about 8:57pm Since it’s 24/5 maybe a Saturday night dive will have given enough tides time to clear up the viz

(Trenton) - New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced that the project to dredge the Shark River in Monmouth County would resume.

The Shark River channels will be closed starting Tuesday, September 6 at noon until Friday, September 9 at 7:00 p.m. After that, the project will assume a 24/5 schedule closing the channel from Mondays at 7:00 a.m. until Fridays at 7:00 p.m. Work is expected to complete early this winter.

How about Barnegate Inlet?
We can go in by the Light house before High tide.
From what I hear it is hit or miss with vis.
Hopefully we can get a report from the three spots today.

Mike I forget if Joe is diving or not - I am not sure how far he lives away but he is the closest among all of us. Maybe look at the steps and see what the water quality looks like sometime today?
