Student reunited with £10k diamond ring after flying specialist underwater metal detectorist all the way to Majorca

telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/07/20/student-reunited-...flying-specialist-u/

A British holidaymaker has been reunited with a precious diamond ring she lost in the Mediterranean Sea after flying in an underwater metal detectorist to Majorca find it.

Katie Patterson was distraught when the £10,000 family heirloom slipped off her finger while she swam in 5ft of water.

The 23-year-old university medical student made desperate attempts to find the shiny platinum ring that had been passed down through three generations of her family, but to no avail.
She returned home without it when her holiday had come to an end and then phoned some metal detecting companies and was put in contact with retired diver George Edmunds, from Weymouth, Dorset.
