I am wondering if anybody has any newer information on building your own Cansister dive light. Since the store bought’en lights cost way to much. Any thoughts and suggestions will be nice

I almost built one, but a friend bought me one before I got started.

What I looked for:
A light completely encased in rubber below the screw-on top.
The on/off switch was the button type, but completely covered.

The plan was the remove the top, add a gasket/o ring from some caulking or automotive gasket stuff, and then do the same for both sides of the clear plastic top.

Let me know how it works, the store light was 70$ :/

If you wanted to build your own, here is a generic plan that might work:

Get some pvc pipe at the hardware store and two screw-type ends.
Drill out the ’light’ end, and get a circle of clear plexisglass the same radius as the pipe, then put some silicone or something on both ends of the pipe, cap the ’bottom’ and put a flashlight inside
Then add the glass, a little more silicone, and the last cap.

You cant turn it off underwater, but it would probably last a dive or two.
