Giant Strides Scuba Scavenger Hunt
The contest will be an ongoing event where participants will
photograph and collect certain LISTED items posted on this list as
well as items POSTED randomly at Giantstridedivers yahoo group on a
weekly basis. You can subscribe to this group at GiantStrideDivers-
subscribe [ at ] yahoogrou ps.com Half of this years scavenger hunt proceeds
will benefit the "Save The Bay Eelgrass Program" This Hunt is
designed to get divers active with ecological programs that directly
affect our ocean and to get divers in the water. The rules are simple:
1.We strongly advise buddy diving but discourage pooling resources.
Each member should pay his or her own entry fee, find their own items
and post photographs of their found items shortly after finding them
on the Giantstridedivers yahoo group (in an album they start at the
beginning of the contest.) Items must also be physically presented at
the Awards Cook-Out September 28th.
2.Each item will be assigned a point value and the member with the
most points win prizes ranging from 1st place for most points, 2nd
place prize for 2nd most points etc. etc. etc. Ranking points winners
can choose thier prizes from the list in the order of thier points.
3.Entry fee is $25.00 CASH paid at Giant Stride Dive Shop and must be
accompanied by a copy of certification card. (I have a copier at the
store.)
4.Each diver, upon joining Giantstridedivers yahoo group, must
complete profile and enter a picture of your self to be approved for
membership. If already a member please complete your profile and
enter a picture of yourself.

6. Divers in violation of these rules will be disqualified.

3.Blue or Red Sea Glass 3 pts. each color
4.Sea Glass (other than red or blue) 1 pt. each color
5.Dried Seaweed or Kelp 1pt.
6.Proof of Dive Club Membership (any) 5 pts.
7.Proof of participation in S.T.B. eelgrass harvest 3 pts. each event
8.Proof of participation in S.T.B. eelgrass transplant 3 pts. each
event.
9.RI, MA or CN Lobster Divers license 1 pt.
10.Shark Tooth (small 1 ½ inches or less) 3 pts.
11.Shark Tooth (large meglodon over 1 ½ inches) 5 pts.
12.T-Shirt for YOUR participation in the 2008 Coastal clean up. 5 pts.
13.Proof of Diving Specialty or Upgrade in Certification Level AFTER
signing up for contest. (Must be New not update.) 5 pts.
14.Receipt from RI Dive Shop for Dive Charter 5 pts.
15.Receipt from RI Dive Shop for Dive Trip out of state 5 pts. each
trip
16.Dive Safety Kit (sausage or lift bag,whistle, wreck reel & knife or
line cutter/shears. 3 pts.
17.Log book with over 25 logged dives. 2 pts.
18.Lobster Carapace (cooked ok but must be legal) 2 pts.
19.Spine bone from Striped Bass. 3 pts.
20.Whelk Shell over 1 inch. 3 pts.
