My son and I will be coming down on Friday the 2nd. I have made several night dives and am night certified. I also have hours of S&R dives in black water....South GA. I would like and hints.tips and things to do to avoid any hassles or trouble.

If you’re just talking about hints and tips on the jetties then the biggest tip is to dive when there are few boats around fishing. I’ll generally dive early morning. I’ve copied below the tide tables for the beginning of August. looks like you’ll have great early diving up until August 7th. Below is also the website I use for tide tables. You’ll also need a dive flag. There are a number of artificial reefs off shore to go and see if you get bored with the jetties. There are a number of LDS’s and charter boats in the area. I can’t comment on them since I’ve only used one LDS and therefore I’m biased. Since you’re going to be here in August you could go snorkeling for bay scallops. Check Myflorida.com for regulations. It is great fun for the family. I’ve gone most years using my sit on top kayak. There is a kayak rental business at the bottom of Cape San Blas who will get you going. All you need is capture bags and snorkeling kit.

I may try and get a spearing trip in as well, I have a friend that may bring his son, I’ll look into a six pack boat if anyone is interested!

Ok looks like it’s still a go for next weekend. Trying to decide how many tanks to take and any extra gear to take. My son (16) daughter (13) and myself (no comment) will be coming down Friday. I am good for any dive but my daughter has only ten or so dives so I will have to go at her pace for at least one dive. Would like to try and catch a few fish to cook if anyone is up for some fishing as well. Hit me up with a PM and I will give you my cell to call/text if anyone wants to meet up. Looking forward to some dives and down time under a camper awning!!
