Looking at heading to Bimini this fall to dive local sites with Big Game Club. Anybody stayed there or have some experience with dive sites in the area?

I have been there several times , but it has been close to 20 years ago. I am sure lots has changed. There is a semi-submerged ship very close to sure. I have heard that the island now has dive charters. When I was there we always had our own boat since we were coming from Miami for the weekend. We often went to an area called Honeymoon Harbor and dove the backside of the island.  It had a very nice reef. Very cool place to visit. I sure hope they updated the rooms at the Big Game since I was there last. They we pretty rough back then. I would love to see your pictures once you have been.

They did a major overhaul a few years ago and do now have a charter service for diving. It’s still reasonably priced but I don’t know how long that will last of the diving is any good. I’ll have plenty of pics to post.....whether good or bad remains to be seen.

I haven’t stayed on Bimini but I have checked in and out of Bahamas customs there a lot on either sailing or liveaboards and while we are there dive and there is a lot of good diving in the area.

Just remember that the Bahamas sit on top of a plateau and Bimini is right at the edge of it. Much of it is shallow so when the tide changes all of that water starts moving on or off and currents can be an issue.

I’ve done Blackbeard’s Liveaboard several times in the Bahamas, and each trip we overnighted in Bimini and dove many sites around the Bimini Islands. The diving is great! I would suggest that you check our Blackbeard’s site for some of the popular dive sites. Happy diving!
