WHAT’S YOUR EXPERIENCE ?

[quote from: RAWalker] Greg, I believe what the OP was asking is if a moderated forum could be formed that would not be accessible to all users only those in the pro ranks after a request for access and being verified as a Divermaster or above. Maybe as a Club with it’s own forum section? Maybe all clubs could have their own section of forums? [end quote] divebuddy is, I believe, a forum for ALL divers to learn from others experience’s from the just certified to the consummate professional, if you try to secularize classes of the mass’s you take that away from the SPIRIT of this web site.I can - but choose NOT to become a dive instructor for two personal reason’s (1 I am not patient enough, nor tolerant enough to deal with the general public, (2 the arrogance of SOME dive instructor’s has turned into a competition of who know’s more, who’s better then who, and it hurts the sport in general, I know of 4 people who each of them with different instructors have been turned off from diving because of the SUPERIOR EGO during and after they’r training.-to suggest an INSTRUCTORS ONLY club would widen this division and defeat the SPIRIT of divebuddy... WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE DIVING WITH INSTRUCTORS DURING & AFTER YOU HAVE BEEN CERTIFIED ?

[Choose #2] No desire to be a DM or Instructor. I have hundreds of dives with DM’s and instructors. I have acually helped some of them out.Dosent mean I am better or visa vesa

[Choose #4] Had a great instructor! I guess if you look at it in terms of a "club" then it’s not so cool. I happen to think an Instructors only site is a good idea. It gives instructors a place to discuss/ask questions among their peers.

[Choose #5] Agreed. Just because an instructor chose to become an instructor doesn’t mean they’re better than normal cert divers. Some of us choose not to become instructors or DM’s because we don’t want to. Not because we’re stupid or lesser divers.

[Choose #2] I had a great instructor and dove with some awesome ones. I cant speak for them, but i gathered they were about sharing knowledge and experience versus keeping things to themselves. Cant wait to dive with them again!

[Choose #1] only dive with people I like. If I don’t like you as instructor...sure wouldn’t dive with you.

[Choose #1] I have experienced some fantastic instructors, they take the time to teach, afterwards they are always willing to dive as fellow divers. Then there are the rest... arrogant stiffs who believe that since they are instructors they are beter than anyone

[Choose #3] A good instructor is like a good coach.... They know when to keep their mouth shut and when you might need advice. Thankfully you cant hear under water and he understood the universal your number one signal.

[Choose #2] Sometimes I dive with pros and sometimes I pay instructors to teach me. I enjoy both but if I’m not paying I don’t expect free lessons just a good divebuddy. It could be that your ego is the one getting in the way.

[Choose #2] From the tone of your post I’d assume your had bad experiences. Maybe it’s you or your choice of instructors.

[Choose #2] Just like any other relationship between 2 people it depends on the 2 individuals.

[Choose #2] As an instrutor I must "take the lead" with my students to ensure their safety and provide a good learning environment, BUT... I dive with people of all levels of skill and I see it as an opportunity to learn something new from them.

[Choose #2] The more divided the forum gets the less one reads any of it. That’s why I don’t go to scubaboard anymore!
