N.B.T.T has the honor and privilege of the involvement of three excellent divers whom were recently involved in a life saving situation. Javy Martinez is a PADI certified dive master and J.J Real is a PADI Advanced Open Water diver, and James Martinez is a PADI Open Water Diver. Cumulatively they have thousands of dives. On Saturday, June 18th their fitness and experience was challenged. At one of our club’s favorite diving locations the Terrenea resort also known as “Old MarineLand” in Palos Verdes in the am hours Javy Martinez, and J.J Real, and James Martinez along with another diver were getting ready to submerge for their first dive when one of them suffered a medical incident rendering him unconscious. Thanks to their vigilance and quick response together they towed the diver back into shore through surf and a rocky entry area and with the aid of shore personnel and arriving paramedics were able to save his life. We have the privilege of their involvement in our club and their heroism and actions are a tribute to the fitness and experience that regular diving through a group like N.B.T.T can provide. We extend our thanks and hope that we can enjoy many more safe and enjoyable dives with them.

About N.B.T.T.

No Beach Too Tough is an informal dive club formed in June of 2010 by divers Javy Martinez and Marco Costa. Together they met and involved many other divers they encountered with the goal of frequent diving to build knowledge, experience, and maintain dive fitness. The core dive focus of this group are local Southern California dive sites. Some sites which are more challenging then just hopping on a boat or climbing some stairs but which are occasionally unfrequented and therefore thriving marine sites ideal for diving. Further details regarding N.B.T.T. and scheduled dives and events with this group can be found on divebuddy.com or visit http://www.divebuddy.com/club.aspx?ClubID=282

Can I ask you what was the medical incident that caused unconsciousness?

That’s great news...and a good tribute to how important physical fitness is to diving. Many people believe it’s a "non-physical" activity. Thankfully for this person, your group doesn’t subscribe to that tenet.
