This month we have a guest speaker, Patricia “PJ” Jordan, who will be showing her amazing images, and she always has a great story to go with them!

Shhhhh!! It’s a secret!

For many years, my preference was to shoot wide angle underwater whenever I had the opportunity. But, things have changed. As a friend of mine once said, “Nothing is forever”. And to validate that statement, it seems as though the magic of underwater macro photography has cast its spell over me. For a few years now, I have become more and more enthralled with shooting macro underwater. Through a variety of my macro images I would like to demonstrate how and why this has happened.

And, of course, one of the subjects to be covered will be the subjects themselves – planning in advance how to shoot subjects, where and how to find subjects, how to approach a subject, things to do and not to do while photographing subjects, the characteristics and behaviors a subject might display, karma and macro subjects. And, finally, how photographing macro subjects underwater has added to my sense of discovery and fulfillment.

Patricia “PJ” Jordan

Patricia Jordan (also known as PJ) is a retired physical education teacher from New Jersey. PJ has been diving for forty years, mostly in warm-water locations such as the Caribbean, Central and South America, the South Pacific, the Red Sea, and Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia. A self-taught, free-lance photographer, she has captured images depicting the extraordinary beauty of our underwater world as well as the diverse cultural rites of indigenous populations world-wide that she presents at symposiums, educational institutions and universities, and dive seminars. Her images have appeared in publications such as Graphis, Islands, Ocean Realm, Alert Diver and Dive Training. They have also garnered awards in international and national photography competitions. PJ has worked as a research diver for the Pacific Whale Foundation in Maui, Hawaii, and she is also a Fellow Member of The Explorers Club.
