Dive Trip to Roatan, Honduras
Sun, March 17, 2013 - Sun, March 24, 2013
Carretera Principal,, Bay Islands, Honduras
$1,729 single / $1,499 double / $1,219 triple
Located on Roatan’s northeast coast, Paya Bay Resort is perched on a bluff overlooking the multi-hued Caribbean Sea and two beautiful half-moon beaches with the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef just a 100 yards offshore. Located nearby, Tropical Island Divers is the only dive shop in the area so they are able to provide almost exclusive access to some of Roatan’s best dive sites.
I dove Roatan a few years back and it was by far the best diving I’ve done anywhere. And I want to go back. But I don’t want to go alone so I’m inviting the group to join me.
The 7-night Scuba Package is $1,499 per person double occupancy ($1,729 single / $1,219 triple) in an ocean view room with A/C and mini-fridge. The package includes roundtrip airport/resort transfers; welcome cocktails; three daily meals and afternoon snacks; unlimited non-alcoholic drinks; unlimited broadband Internet access; and two daily dives for five days. Additional dives are available at a small charge. If there’s enough interest, I’ll try to get a package deal an additional dive each day, and a sixth day as well.
And group discounts are available, too. A 5% discount is offered with two rooms, 8% for three rooms, 12% for four to eight rooms, and 16% for nine or all ten rooms. According to Expedia, roundtrip airfare between Las Vegas and Roatan is around $800 per person.
Dive sites are so close that surface intervals are spent back at the resort. So when you’re not diving, you have the opportunity to explore the extraordinary natural beauty of the Tropical Garden Reserve, the Wetlands Reserve, and the Port Royal Wildlife Refuge. You can also dip in the pool or choose between Big Beach, Bliss Beach (one of the Top Ten most beautiful private beaches in the Caribbean), Secret Cove (where swimwear is optional), and Buccaneer Landing (a private islet accessed by a wooden bridge). For those who crave an active nightlife, the island’s West End is only 30 - 40 minutes away and offers a number of restaurants, bars, and clubs.
