he Scuba Sports Club of Westchester County and Captain Mike´s Diving Services on City Island, will be holding their third annual beach cleanup/barbarque at Orchard Beach, located in the Bronx, NY starting at 8:00 AM and running until 6:00 PM, on May 20, 2012. The cleanup will take place along Orchard Beach’s sandy shores. This year’s cleanup will be the beach - underwater, and grassy areas will be our focus. There will be a booth on the beach walkway to get your bag, gloves and a map to the area that you will be assigned to. Also bring your family/friends if they pick up 2 bags of trash they will also get into the barbarque free. All divers bring up any trash will get into barbarque free.

Past year’s turnout resulted in over A hundred divers from our local area helping to clean the beach before the official opening of Orchard Beach. This year more shops, companies and even NorthEastDiveNews will be attending.

After the beach cleanup there will be a clam bake and barbeque until dusk. Be sure to bring your favorite beverages, food to share with the group, and any supplies you think we need for barbqueing. There will be giveaways from DAN, DUTCH SPRINGS AND MUCH MORE. This is all about diving in the north east meeting old friends and making new ones. Any shop or company wishing to participate and get there logo on the banner please contact TheScubaSportsClub.org

DID you see this has prizes from Dutch Springs, and Cousteau Divers and NewYorkScuba, very cool, it promises to be the biggest and best one yet north east dive party yet.! Just about every dive shop and club in the tri-state area is going to be participating, and it’s our chance to give back and have a good time doing it.Oceanblue divers says, you can participate in a couple of ways, either wet or dry; bring your dive gear and get wet helping haul garbage and debris out of the water, or stay dry, don some gloves and pick up refuse on the beach. And the best part: once the picking up is done you’ll get to feast at the clambake barbecue for FREE. The way to get your free meal? Picking up garbage, that’s right! Everyone who picks up a set minimum amount of garbage will get to eat at the clambake free! There will also be lots of fun and prizes for garbage pickup, including largest and most unsual pieces of trash. BRING A DISH TO SHARE AT THE CLAM BAKE!!!!
