Come on up to 7621ft elevation above sea level to the often times of gin clear, trout infested dive waters! Just north of Mammoth on HWY 14 (395) make a left heading to June Lake, couple miles make a right at Oh Ridge Campground, I have one of about 20 sites reserved, go to site 92 and I’ll fit you in (tent camping!!) Bring as many bottles of air as you can, there’s no refill station anywhere (maybe Lake Tahoe?) I’m bringin 4 and know I’ll wish I had brought more! It’s a treasure trove of lost gear, discarded trash and fishing equipment galore. June Lake is 168ft deep and loaded, historical rumors are that illegal gamblers in the 1930’s had dumped full slot machines into the lake to avoid a big bust.
http://www.hmdb.org/marker.asp?marker=37585 I haven’t found them yet. The diving is pristine, with huge boulders rock falls, massive verticals, obsidian everywhere. Gull Lake is stone throw away-and it’s another radical dive site. Two more lakes in the loop to be looked at this year. It’s 4 days of watching deer (does and fawns) walk through your campsite only a couple feet away in the mornings to diving clean water. Temps can be 65 on top without an algae problem and upper 40’s to low 50’s below 40ft deep.
