Lac St-Francois, Scuba Park, Site #1 is a boat accessible fresh water dive site, located in QC, Canada. The maximum depth is 26-30ft/8-9m.
The Lac St-François underwater park offers a beautiful dive site composed of wrecks and other artifacts found in Lac St-François at a depth of about 30 feet. The current of about 1 knot and the relatively good visibility make the site accessible to beginners to intermediate divers, depending on the season. Several ropes are arranged to allow divers to move among the different objects and wrecks of this "underwater museum". Access is by boat and charter services are offered by two nearby shops. Among other things, you can see different types of anchors and buoys, as well as a large colony of yellow perch, sunfish, walleye, bass, rock bass and pike. The density of fish is such in the wrecks that some sunfish will jealously defend their shelters by trying to intimidate you or by biting the tips of your gloves.
The Anne-Marie G. is the largest wreck in the park at 50 feet long. A second wreck has been installed on an old barge. Penetration of the barges is possible provided you have the appropriate certification. On the Federal 4 barge, a glass bell has been installed to allow divers to talk underwater if it is filled with air. Be careful not to breathe the air already present in the bell before your arrival and to purge it using the valve, because it could be stale.
