Park Place Community Park is an interesting shore diving site located in Nanoose Bay, in Nanaimo, British Columbia on Vancouver Island. There is parking for 2 or 3 vehicles and then a short but steep hike down to the water. The beach is excellent for exit/entry at any tide.
About 180 meters out at a 5 to 10 degree heading you’ll run into a large, rocky reef that stands alone and doesn’t connect to any other shore structure. There is plenty of rocky areas, boulders, rock piles, and cracks and crevices to inspect for creatures. We’ve found octopus, puget sound king crabs, various species of rockfish, nudibranchs, cabezon, and more here.
