Great Lakes Aquarium is a fresh water dive site, located in Duluth, MN.
About six months ago, after much encouragement from supporters, including volunteer divers who helped clean the aquarium, staff announced the "Dive-N-Feed Experience," which allows up to three divers to explore the 90,000-gallon freshwater tank set up to emulate the waters off Lake Superior’s Isle Royale. Interested divers should book their visit at least one week in advance, set aside three hours for the experience, which includes an orientation and hand-feeding tame fish. A C-card is required. Depths to: 25 feet (7.5 m) Water temperature: 55 degrees Fahrenheit (13 degrees Celsius) Aquatic life: Steelhead rainbow trout, kamloops rainbow trout, brown trout, coaster brook trout, lake trout, siscowet, Atlantic salmon, coho salmon, American eels, lake sturgeon, walleye, and longnose and white suckers. Fees: $79 for divers who bring their own gear; $99 for divers who need to use aquarium dive gear. The price includes an orientation, prepared fish food, behind-the-scenes tour, refreshments and snack, and a souvenir T-shirt and patch.
