Access to the quarry is controlled by Kathy’s Scuba, Inc. and Associates and it’s member dive shops and independent instructors. No one is allowed in the quarry without being accompanied by an insured divemaster or instructor associated with the members.
Located just off Interstate 64 near Fishersville, the Fishersville Quarry offers a convenient and comfortable dive opportunity for many Shenandoah Valley and Central Virginia dive enthusiasts. The quarry is a slate quarry and has a max depth of about 90 feet. There is ample area for open water training above 30 feet and there are several platforms, boats and other submerged artifacts. Visibility averages from 15 to 40 feet depending on the time of year and the number of divers using the quarry.
FISHERSVILLE QUARRY RULES
Everyone on quarry property must be accompanied by a fully insured divemaster, assistant instructor or instructor authorized by a participating quarry associate member and whose credentials and copy of insurance are on file with Kathy’s Scuba Inc.
All diving will be carried out within recreational scuba diving standards as prescribed by the Recreational Scuba Training Council and its affiliated agencies.
A signed waiver and release of liability statement is required each time they use the quarry. Associate members and their Instructor, Assistant Instructor and Divemaster designees are required to complete a release once per year and kept on file with Kathy’s Scuba.
Each diver must use, at minimum, a BCD, primary and alternate air source, auto inflator,
pressure gauge, depth gauge and timing device. Each of these items must function properly.
Removal or damage to any property above or underwater is prohibited.
No climbing, hiking, jumping or diving from the quarry walls.
No glass containers are permitted on the quarry premises.
Trash cans are not provided. Trash will be removed by the parties generating it on a daily basis.
No firearms are permitted on the quarry premises.
Illegal drugs are prohibited.
No fighting or horseplay.
Pets are allowed provided they are kept under control and cleaned up after.
Children under 12 must be accompanied and supervised continuously by an adult.
Fires are allowed only in designated areas.
No fishing is permitted unless authorized in writing by Dive Connections, Inc.
Arrangements can be made for overnight camping through Kathy’s Scuba.
No diving is allowed by anyone who has consumed any alcoholic beverages.
Violation of these rules will result in loss of quarry privileges
