Kevin would give people a brief orientation in the shelter of nearby Sonesta Bay and then row them out to this section of reef to experience the underwater realm for the first time. These dive adventures where the pioneers of today’s Resort Dives enjoyed by millions throughout tropical destinations world-wide. Divemaster Notes

PhotoLocated just to the west of The Sonesta Beach Hotel, where Kevin Burke established the island’s first dive school in the 1960’s. We no longer row you out to the site or at least don’t plan to, You never really know when you’re relying on the internal combustion engine for transportation. Depths range from 10ft on the top of the reef to 30ft in the sand. Overhangs on the eastern sides of the coral fingers provide the ideal hideout for Snappers and Grunts. The large sand areas have ample Conch and the ever present Razor Fish and Lizard Fish. Keep your eye open for the occasional visit by feeding Eagle Ray’s.

The coral structure is riddled with cave’s, some of which are extremely tight and should only attempted by experienced divers. The whole site has typically calm ocean conditions and as the sand areas are large with a compact reef structure, we often reserve this site exclusively for novice divers of a nervous disposition or extremely adverse weather conditions
REMEMBER.... THE REEF IS FRAGILE! PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH OR TREAD ON LIVING CORAL.
