Mile 4.9 (The Dome Reef) - Big Island HI

Mile 4.9 is another excellent site just up the road from Mile 6.3. This is also a popular site for boat divers. The road is pretty much impossible to drive, so be prepared for a two hundred yard hike.

We got here by boat and was told (by Kahala Divers) that is area was called the Dome Reef. Great location with lots of peaks (e.g. the dome) and valleys in the coral. Found a large scorpion fish in the reef and groupers.
