Salt Point Natural Area, Cayuga Lake is a shore accessible fresh water dive site, located in Lansing, NY. This dive site has an average rating of 4.00 out of 5 from 1 scuba divers. The maximum depth is over 150ft/46m. The average visibility is 36-40ft/11-12m.

Located in Salt Point Natural Area on Cayuga Lake. Easiest entry is to park near the Canoe Launch and walk in but you can gain entry into the water from anywhere in the park. This dive site consists of three plateaus: the first has a max depth of about 30 feet which then steeply transitions to the next plateau of about 130-150 feet. Continuing on the 150 foot plateau, you would hit another steep grade that will take you to the deepest part of the lake at around 300 feet.

Exploring the walls/ grades in the area you will find many large trees and logs. Viz in the shallows tends to be poor due to boat traffic but opens up greatly after getting into deeper water.

As you enter the water at the Canoe Launch, you will see two buoys to your left near the point. These mark the remains of the old pier which sits in about 20 feet of water.

During the spring, summer, and fall, the boat traffic can be heavy from fishing. The best time to dive would be during the week.

A spot that I frequent. Lots of area to explore. The large trees and logs hanging over the walls/ steep grades are particularly eerie.
