White Hill Reef (80-87 feet in depth)

Located approximately 6 miles southwest of Destin’s East Pass. White Hill Reef is a single limestone ledge approximately 5 feet tall running east and west and facing south. This reef is home to many fish and numerous sea critters. It is not uncommon to see frog fish, brittle stars, anemones, toad fish, scorpion fish, octopus, spotted eels, along with an abundance of tropical fish. White Hill Reef is very close to the Thomas Hayward Liberty Ship, therefore making it much more abundant with game fish such as, gag and black grouper, scamp, red snapper, white and black snapper, flounder, trigger fish and much more. Common to see the large southern sting ray, sharks and in august the large eagle rays.

Dove this site on 11/21/2021 with ScubaTech of Destin. The visibility was between 40 and 50 ft. and the water temperature was 70. We saw a wide variety of reef fish, barracuda, snapper, lionfish, and several eels. Captain Nancy and the crew of the Sea Cobra were amazing! This was our first dive of the day, and then we moved a few hundred yards south to the Thomas Heyward Liberty ship.

My 1st boat dive after certification. It’s actually nearly adjacent to the Thomas Hayward Liberty Ship and it’s possible to swim between them if you’re good with a compass and air consumption. Limestone reef with the usual cast of northern gulf marine life.

13 June 2016 on the Sea Cobra. Vis was 55-70ft and bottom temps were in the low 70s. Lots of fish and wildlife.

Dove with Scuba Tech NWFL out of Destin on 13 June 2016. We were treated with 55-70ft vis and bottom temps in the low 70s. Tons of fish, quite a few lion fish that were being dispatched with, and about 5 different morays, two of which were pretty large. Sea Cobra was the boat and they treated us like royalty.

one of my favorites! There had been a "resident" shark around here most of 2010 dive season.

We dove this site with Scuba Tech out of Destin. I am sure this is a good site when the visibility is better, but is was not good the day we dove it. Still had a good trip with them.
