Govenor’s Beach - Turks And Caicos Islands

Loading...
Govenor’s Beach is a boat accessible salt water dive site, located in Grand Turk, Turks And Caicos Islands. This dive site has an average rating of 3.60 out of 5 from 5 scuba divers. The maximum depth is over 150ft/46m. The average visibility is 51-60ft/16-18m. This dive site provides bathrooms and airfills.

Possibly the island’s best shore dive, the beach is also a great place to lounge in the sun. Enter the sea from the beach and swim towards the dropoff. As you proceed, you will encounter grassy beds inhabited by bandtail puffers, young nassau groupers, sand tilefish, razorfish, batfish, flying gurnards, and uncommonly seen juveniles of many reef species. Head instead towards the abandoned pier and you will find barracuda, cottonwicks, juvenile blackfin snappers, and a variety of small creatures sheltered by the large pilings.

I went scuba diving here on 11/8/2013. Average viz: 41-50ft/12-15m. Water temp: 81-85°F/27-29°C.
Logged Dive 1112, is "The Tunnel", follow the leader across the coral, under swim through’s, just before "The Wall". I could see the deep drop off. We are cruising along the top of the wall looking at all the coral and gorgonian fans. We did observe "Garden Ells" and tropical fish, the hated LionFish is hiding out in the coral.
Logged Dive 1113, is "The Windmill’s", again follow the leader. Cruising through the Coral Heads there is a lot of trash. We reach "The Wall", I know my computer would hate me if I descended any deeper that the cruising altitude we are at. Back at the dive boat we are headed back to the Oasis Dive shop and then back to the Cruise Ship.

Nice reef to dive on! Except when a cruise ship is in port, than this place is crawling with snorkelers and cruise ship divers!
