Dive 1109, Spiegel Grove(LDS-32), Key Largo, Fla. Ocean Divers. The skipper moored at Buoy #3. Conditions are near perfect. This is my second dive on the Grove. Juan & Carlos request that I lead this dive. We descend the mooring line to the portside crane system at 60 feet. We continue along the portside deck and in no time we are at 99 feet at the Bridge. We cruise around the Bridge along the starboard side back to the well deck on the Starboard Crane system. We swim across the well deck to the Portside Crane system at 60 feet, relax and reduce our N2. We ascend the mooring line with our safety stop for 3 minutes. Back on deck we relax and enjoy our surface interval while on our way to the Wreck of the Benwood.
Dive 1110, The Benwood wreck is so shallow you can see parts of it from the surface. The dive instructions for this dive are very simple; it’s a shallow dive, enjoy the wreck, don’t penetrate the wreck it silts up fast. I reach the bow and first part of the deck. There is a Scorpion fish and Box Puffer on the deck sunning themselves. Off the deck down the Starboard side I use my dive light looking into the dark holes and along the keel for Lobster and nocturnal animals. I find a Scallop or Shellfish that has Scallop like actions. I return with 1000 psig.
