Medical complications
hansonb - 10/25/2009 11:08 AM
Well, it’s been about a year since I completed my last dive. Bad surgical complications (due to the doctor) have left me with a partially paralyzed right diaphragm that I’ve been working on since it happened. Worst part is that it means my chest can’t fully expand and the depths of the blue add more pressure. I’m seeing some progress and I found that I can fully expand my chest when in the local pool so shallow dive is next on the list. Wondering if anyone else out there has a suggestions on wha...
Training as a Dive Master
hansonb - 5/30/2008 5:20 AM
Completed enough dives to start on my Dive Master. Russ at Deep Blue Quest, here in South Korea, has agreed to take me on and get me through the training. Looking forward to it and should be done in a few more weeks if not sooner depending on the student dives coming up....
Finished with Rescue Diver
hansonb - 5/30/2008 5:17 AM
Well I finished Rescue Diver with Deep Blue Quest in South Korea on 11 May 08. It was a great two weeks doing the pool dives and then the ocean trip for certification. There was 3 of us and we all had a great time. Thanks to Russell Krogh, owner and instructor of DBQ, for the instruction and patience to get us through all the tasks. Looking forward to more dives with DBQ and the other divers on peninsula that want to have fun. If anyone reads this and comes to South Korea for any reason, contact...
Buying more gear
hansonb - 4/01/2008 7:19 AM
Well, I bought more gear this week. I purchased a housing marine pack for my Sony W200 Camera so that we can use it when I go to Hawaii in June. Looking forward to getting the housing and then giving it a trial run here in a couple weeks when I try a local Korean dive on the east coast of Korea....
Picked up a new Wisdom 2
hansonb - 2/29/2008 9:37 AM
Had the opportunity to pick up the Sherwood Wisdom 2 with QD and compass today, Brand new from a shop. Bought it for $550. I had found it for only $700+ everywhere else. Certainly think I got a good deal. Now comes the next big purchases of the regulator/octo and the BCD....
Finding compatible Gear
hansonb - 1/26/2008 7:58 AM
Seems like everywhere I go to search for dive gear options I only find shops that are pushing one brand or another. I`ve been looking at the Sherwood Wisdom 2 computer and instrument console but with the MK25 and S600/R390 primary and octo. I`ve found good success with Henderson for suits but now I`m wondering if I should stay mainly with just ScubaPro items other than the Sherwood controls. I continue to hear more about the Zaegle Ranger BCD but I haven`t found a shop that carries the equipment...
Searching for Korea dive sites
hansonb - 1/12/2008 7:59 PM
I`ve been searching for divers in South Korea but so far to little success. Other than the other 2 members on here, there seems to be little evidence of a large diving community in this part of Asia. Kind of a surprise considering the locality to great dive sites that are rumored to be reached from here. I`ve found the dive clubs in Korea are spread out throughout the entire peninsula so there is only really one per area which also is somewhat limiting. I`m just hoping that someone has a hint ou...
