Coral Reef Conservation Specialty Coral Reef Conservation Specialty

I have been privileged enough to earn the Coral Reef Identification Specialty from the actual author of the course, along with about 10 other students from various agencies, from PADI "Master Instructor" Dr. Mel Briscoe. Mel taught, mentored and certified myself and another MSDT as speciality instructors on the Honduran barrier reef in Utila in mid March 2008. I am really hyped about having had the experience of learning from such a reknown instructor as Dr. Briscoe. I mean who better to teach t...

First of all, I have to thank the crew down in Murrells Inlet, S.C.! These guys are a first rate SCUBA diving shop and diving outfit. Southern hospitality and professionalism at its best. So, on with the story: The first day of three was spent a "staff only dive". I cannot stress how diving has been responsible for ...

I`ve just about worked out a schedule for with my IDC instructor and as soon as he says the word..., It`s ON! So, the cool part of this is that I won`t have to impose on my buddies. These guys where cool enough (no pun intended) to get into 36 deg water just to help a brother out!...
PADI AI completed!

I just finished my last open-water dive/test for my PADI Assistant Instructor rating. Not a whole lot to speak to other than it was COLD! After almost 20 years of diving I recently embarked on the "professional path". The IDC isn`t as tough as some folks have made it out to be but nowhere close to being easy either. In any case, I am looking forward to working with & learning more from my Instructor(s). I would like to get my delivery and demonstrations polished to a point where it comes across ...
