A special Christmas mesage
MonkeyDiver - 12/05/2009 11:22 AM
May we always remember them… A Different Christmas Poem The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight. My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My daughter beside me, angelic in rest. Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white, Transforming the yard to a winter delight. The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve. My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, Secure and surrounded by love I would sl...

Nice Story
MonkeyDiver - 1/28/2009 12:50 PM
This was sent to me by a friend, and I just have to pass it on. It is a beautiful story that starts with laughter, brings a tear, and ends with a smile. Enjoy and pass it on if you feel it is worthy. God bless every one of them. Wayne Luke AFB is west of Phoenix and is rapidly being surrounded by civilization that complains about the noise from the base and its planes, forgetting that it was there long before they were. A certain lieutenant colonel at Luke AFB deserves a big pat on the back. App...

Fred and Wilma Fred and Wilma
MonkeyDiver - 8/22/2008 5:58 PM
I was asked to share Fred’s status, and that of his new friend, Wilma, on this blog because of the wide interest. As some of you already know, Fred is a purple urchin that stowed away on the Aquarium of the Pacific’s boat last Monday following our kelp project dives. I felt sorry for him and took him home to live in my boat dock in Huntington Harbor. He seemed to be doing OK, but yesterday he was a bit lethargic, and I thought he might be lonely. Well, wouldn’t you know it, we had another stowaw...

MonkeyDiver - 6/03/2008 12:12 PM
Hi Folks, I just made my reservations for another Baja gray whale encounter trip leaving Orange County February 15, 2009, and staying overnight at Guerrero Negro. I will be driving to San Ignacio the next day, staying there the nights of February 16 -18, leaving for San Quintin on the 19th, and traveling home on the 20th. I will be driving out to the whale lagoon from San Ignacio February 17 & 18 doing two boat trips per day. I am not organizing the trip next year because it has been very frustr...
Baja Gray Whale Trip 2008 Baja Gray Whale Trip 2008
MonkeyDiver - 2/21/2008 1:43 PM
Just got back from San Ignacio, Baja, Mexico where we had two days of playing with gray whales. This was a whale encounter activity from a boat, and not an in-water activity. It would be dangerous for people and the whales to be in the water together, and these guys a very much protected. Their migration was a bit late this year, but there were still over 100 whales to play with, both mama and baby whales. The weather was cooler than normal, but we always go prepared for the worst, and it worked...

Baja Gray Whale Trip Planning Baja Gray Whale Trip Planning
MonkeyDiver - 10/30/2007 6:26 PM
Hi, I am planning the next trip down Baja for more gray whale encounters in San Ignacio, Mexico, and I want to get a list of interested people. BTW, this is not a dive trip. I am starting early this year because hotel accommodations are limited at San Ignacio during the whale migration season, and early reservations are recommended. The tentative plan is to leave from Orange County Friday morning, February 15th, 2008, stay in a hotel in Catavina that evening, drive to a hotel in San Ignacio the ...
California tours?? California tours??
MonkeyDiver - 4/30/2007 12:00 AM
I have had many recent inquiries and complaints from out-of-town divers about the absence of diving tour services here in California similar to those in other parts of the world where they supply the equipment, boat, and UW DM or guide. For the most part that is true. Unless you are part of a dive club or shop group A diver here usually has to provide all of their own equipment, find and sign up for a dive boat, and when you get to a dive site all you get is a site briefing before you enter the ...
