Mahi Wreck - Oahu - West Side

I dove Mahi wreck on 27 SEP. It was a beautiful day with very few clouds in the sky. We launched from the west side aboard the South Seas II operated by Ocean Concepts.

We we arrived on scene it was obvious that the current was strong because the divemaster was swept away 15 feet as he entered the water!

Once we got down to depth (90 feet) things were a little more mellow as far as current goes.

We saw a school of Manta Rays (about 20) hovering on the port side of the ship where the current was negated by the ship. The rays had wing spans of about 7 feet.

We had the opportunity to partially penetrate the ship which was eery. I think that any ship that was once designed to float on the ocean that is now sunk brings to mind the lore of Davey Jones and the mysteries of the deep. I only wish that the majestic ship could talk. Oh the stories it would tell.
