So I’ll be starting Rescue Diver course next Tuesday on the 22nd of July. I’ll have to start with CPR and First Aid training.

I’ll be sharing my progress here on this blog. Keep checking back...
This course has proved to be the most difficult by far, yet will also prove to be the most rewarding. Finally finished all classwork and pool sessions last night (Tuesday Sept. 16,2008). Now we have some real live scenarios to go through, four in all. Hopefully it will be within the next couple of weeks. This course was especially difficult for me for a simple reason. I’m a rather small-framed guy, and all my fellow "rescuers" are all bigger than me. So, I have to put up with alot of jokes. LoL. Everybody wants me to play the "victim" and then laugh when it’s my turn to be a rescuer. It’s not funny when the instructor tries to be fair by delegating a "smaller" fellow. I don’t get that choice in a real emergency situation. Just a thought. EDIT: Finally got my official cert this past saturday! We did our 4 scenarios in a coooold lake here in MS, 15 foot grassy visibility. Started out at 62 degrees and finally warmed up to 66 degrees!

I really enjoyed my Rescue course, felt like I learned a lot.

I was amazed at how tiring it was to be the "victim"; all that thrashing about really tired me out. all the more reason for the rescuer to hang back and let the victim tire himself out a bit ...

It is a very good course.. You will become a better buddy for any one you dive with after completing the course. Good luck to both of you..

I did mine in June. It is a great class. Have a good time and it does improve your awareness of the other divers around you.
