Brion Sullivan (GypsyDiver) - RIPWe lost GypsyDiver today. I met Brion through DiveBuddy. We quickly became friends. I had the pleasure of speaking with him a few times over the phone. Every time we spoke, I ended the conversation happier! Each call would include some jokes or interesting conversation that would cause him to laugh, which caused me to laugh.

I ran into Brion and his wife, Bree, at a scuba trade show. They were such a cute couple. You can tell that Brion loved her very much. His arm was around her the whole time we chatted. And he never stopped smiling! Brion was such a like-able, fun guy.

Brion was a soldier, husband, father, friend and scuba diver. Not too long ago, Brion fulfilled one of his wishes...he became a scuba instructor and certified quite a few students. From every picture he shared, you can tell he enjoyed it very much and I bet his students loved him.

You will be missed man! I’ll think about you every time I go scuba diving. ALS can kiss my ass...you were taken from us too early my friend.

Here is a message from Bree:

"It is with a heavy, heavy heart that I have to let you all know that this morning at 0425 am, Brion lost his fight with ALS. Although we knew the ultimate outcome with this disease, is was very unexpected to happen this early. I find comfort in knowing that he was surrounded by so many of his friends and family this weekend and he went peacefully. Brion’s family and I want to thank you all for your prayers and words of encouragement for him to pull through. Im so happy to know that he has touched so many people through out his life and he was loved so much."

I’m sorry to hear about the loss of such a great guy. I did not know him personally, but you can tell from his pictures and the kind words everyone is speaking, that he was a great man. Its always sad when an individuals life is cut short, no matter the reason. My prayers go out to his wife, his family, and all the lives he had an impact on. May he know rest in peace!

I met Brion in 2011 Scholfield Barracks in Hawaii, we work together for the Division Provost Marshal Office, 25th Infantry Division. Brion was not only my scuba instructor, a fellow Army Soldier, also was my friend. This news has left me breathless. Brion was a super active and unparalleled character person. Always remember you buddy.
