Newish diver (June 2016), but I’ve enjoyed continuing to develop my skills through certifications: AOW, EANx, Rescue Diver and dry suit certified.

What is the healthiest, most robust reef you’ve ever seen? For me, it was diving the Jardin d’Eden in New Caledonia in 2017. Zanzibar’s Mnemba Atoll and Cozumel’s Planacar Gardens also stand out to me.
Currently interested in others’ experiences diving the Galapagos. Although I continue to build expertise through certifications, I usually manage to vacation and dive on two vacations per year. This has meant that my accumulation of dive experience has taken time. At 50 dives, is your skill level where it needs to be in order to enjoy all the wonders that diving the Galapagos has to offer? Are the most exquisite dive sites only accessible for highly experienced? Is Plata Island also a must see?
Additionally, if you know of any volunteer dive opportunities related to scientific research or ocean conservation, I’d love to hear about them. I’ve enjoyed volunteering with the Coral Restoration Foundation in Florida, but would like to expand my contributions as a citizen scientist.
